CPDme: SUPPORTING HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE PROFESSIONALS WITH ONLINE CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT PLANNING
Formed in 2009, CPDme started life as a Masters degree project and quickly became an international, venture. A small group of consultants were brought together to work on developing the website and to develop a brand and a business plan for CPDme. Currently managed by a group of academic paramedic, military, volunteer, nursing and social work consultants, they concentrate their time on keeping the website up to date with current legislation, educational podcasts and news items, as well as managing memberships and promoting CPDme to potential members.
CPDme.com enables staff from Health & Social care professions, keep an online Continuing Professional Development (CPD) log, and create and expand personal portfolios in order to meet standards set by health governing bodies, as well as prepare for interviews, reviews, and future engagements within their developing professions. Our Website can now assist both military and volunteer medics in their transition into professional civilian medical care, such as applying to ambulance services and presenting prospective employers with a recognised format of their development.
CPDme feel that it’s important staff get the support they deserve in order to maintain and encourage development, therefore keeping their skills and knowledge up-to-date, ensuring a professional understanding of current practice. The online forms, and information within the members section of the website, plus the support of the consultants, help to produce a portfolio personal to each member and aims to help further reinforce the importance of development and performance utilising reflective processes, online development and other internet media sources.
